Alma (Freeman) Burden, age 93, a lifelong resident of West Philadelphia, passed away on July 3, 2020. She was raised in Havertown, Delaware County, PA and graduated from Haverford High School. Alma worked at Curtis Publishing Co. and Mackie Jewelers in Manoa. She was active in the St. Joseph's College Mother's Club and was a member of the Philadelphia Society of Free Letts. Alma did volunteer work at St. Francis de Sales Church and School. Since 1963, Alma summered in Ocean City, NJ and enjoyed the 3rd Street beach near the jetty. Alma loved cats, swimming, and bicycling.

She was the daughter of the late Leon John and Constance (Swank) Freeman and wife of the late Nelson J. Burden, Jr. of West Philadelphia.

Survivors: her 3 loving sons: Nelson J. III, Drew, and Matthew Burden (Amarilli)

Visitation: Saturday, July 11, 2020 from 10:15-10:45 am at St. Francis de Sales Church, 4625 Springfield Ave., Philadelphia, PA. Funeral Mass: Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 11:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Church. Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon.
