Obituary

Anthony John Plitnik, a former Malvern resident of 48 years, passed away on November 24, 2022, at the age of 82. Beloved husband of Carol A. Plitnik. Devoted father of Katharine (Kraig) Eaton and Matt (Julie) Plitnik. Loving grandfather of Ainsley, Campbell, Michael, and Elizabeth. Anthony, known as Tony by all who knew him, was born in Chester, Pennsylvania and lived throughout Delaware County, ultimately graduating from Nether Providence High School in 1958. Tony went on to study economics and received his bachelor's degree from Swarthmore College in 1962, after which he attended the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business - studying Finance and Real Estate. While at Swarthmore, Tony was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. After serving in the Army Reserve, Tony began his life-long executive sales career at IBM and later joined the Xerox Corporation. Tony found his true career passion, however, in commercial real estate sales, where he went on to spend 30 years - with tenures at Rouse and Associates, PECO, First Industrial and D. Fickler Construction. Tony's expertise was in land development and expanding the corporate footprints of many Fortune 500 companies in the greater Philadelphia area. He was most proud, as a Partner at Rouse and Associates, of bringing Penn State University to Chester County with the development of the Penn State Great Valley campus. In his retirement years, Tony took great reward in civic responsibilities, sharing his knowledge and experience as a member of the East Whiteland Township Planning Commission. Tony was a deeply devoted family man whose greatest love was spending time with his wife, Carol - with whom he would have celebrated 54 years on December 2nd. He enjoyed summer days with his children and grandchildren in Stone Harbor, where he and Carol had a home for 33 years. He never missed an opportunity to show his support or love for them all. A private celebration of Tony's life will be held by immediate family - who welcome messages of support and memories to be shared at www.nolanfidale.com. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions to be sent to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org in Tony's name.
