Obituary

Arlene Prestipino, 86, of Glen Mills, PA and formerly of Wilmington, DE, passed away on

December 31, 2020. Arlene was the daughter of the late Clyde Melville Watkins and Eva

Thacker Watkins. She was born and raised in Gordonsville, VA, a place she always held dear in

her heart. She was a 4 year high school basketball player and graduated from James Madison

University in 1955 with a degree in Education. Shortly thereafter she moved to Louisville, KY

where she worked as a court reporter. She also met her husband of 57 years, Joseph Prestipino while in Louisville.

Arlene's truest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother, but she also had many hobbies

and interests. She was an excellent cook and master seamstress, loved playing cards and mah

jong and bowled in leagues for many years with one perfect game to her credit. She also really

enjoyed live music. Her favorite times were spent at her summer home in Marmora (Ocean

City), NJ, and on her annual trips to Branson, MO. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors: Beloved wife of Joseph, loving mother of Timothy and Dale (Tracey) and adoring grandmother to Madison, Nicholas, Matthew, Kelly, Michael and Evan. She is also survived by her twin sister Kathleen Preitz and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral mass at St Thomas the Apostle and burial at St Joseph on the Brandywine will be

private. The family looks forward to a future date when they can celebrate her beautiful life with

her many friends. In lieu of flowers: Please consider donating to the National Kidney Foundation (kidney.org) or to the American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org). Condolences: www.nolanfidale.com.
