Barry A. "Twinkle Toes" Cross Sr., age 78, passed away on January 24, 2023 at Wilmington Hospital. Raised and educated in Chester, he was a 1962 graduate of Chester High School. He has been a longtime resident of Upland. Barry worked for 29 years at Medford Meats in Chester, retiring only after its closing. He then started his own business and was the owner and operator of Barry's Cleaning Service until retirement. Barry was a talented musician who played the guitar, piano, base cello, and drums. He also enjoyed crabbing, vacations in Florida, watching Chester High basketball, the Philadelphia Phillies, Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia 76ers and especially dancing (hence the nick name twinkle toes). Barry was also a man of faith and lived his life serving others. He was a member of Chi United Church in Upper Chichester. Barry also served in the United States Navy. Barry was predeceased by his parents Herman B. and Grace Kennedy Cross, his daughter Melissa (1976), his granddaughter Melissa Jones, his brother Herman Cross and sister Diane Liard. SURVIVORS: His loving wife of 57 years Cheryl Cook Cross, his children Susan Cross Harris (Michael), Shari Cross Anthony, Barry Cross Jr. (Janelle), David Cross (Shawndra), Daniel Cross Sr. (Jamie), his sisters Joyce Patrick, Theresa Bailey, and brother Wayne Cross, his grandchildren Lindsay "Grasshopper" Jones, Barry Cross III, Timothy Jones, Amanda Smith, Kristopher Anthony, Angela Penney, Kimberly Harris, Victoria Sockriter, Alicia Cross, Clarissa Harris, Abigail Cross, Daniel Cross Jr., Benjamin Cross, Ashley Cross, Brenden Smith and Kaiden Smith, great grandchildren Gracie, Kaden, Lincoln, Tommy, Paisley, and Henry. VISITATION will be Tuesday January 31, 2023 from 10-11:30am at Chi United Church, 5151 Chichester Ave, Upper Chichester. FUNERAL SERVICE will be January 31, 2023 at 11:30am at the church.
