IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Benjamin Flounders
Bigelow
August 6, 1980 – May 30, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Benjamin Bigelow, age 44 from Aston, due to an unforeseen tragic accident. Ben's passing leaves a void that can never truly be filled but his legacy will live on in the family he so deeply cherished, the lives he touched, and the many people who were lucky enough to call him a friend. Ben is survived by his three children Kayla, Colin and Caroline, lifelong best friend and former spouse - Kate Bigelow Shields, parents Debbie (Kent) Crawford, Rick (Bern) Bigelow, best friend and partner Elizabeth Hagovsky and her daughter Lillian Salisbury, siblings Holly, Lindsey (Mike) Kowalski, Alisa (Frank) Lo Castro and Bob (Darra), former step children, Becca & Tyler Engberg (former wife, Monica Bigelow), and nieces and nephews: Norah, Laurel, Miri, Nathan, Adalie, Austin, Lucas, Olivia, Nolan, and Kolbie and special little buddy, Patrick. Ben's life was defined by love - love for his family, his friends, his dogs (Luna and Teddy), and the simple joys that made each day worth living. A proud and devoted father, Ben poured his heart into his three wonderful children, each of whom reflects his strength and compassion. Their accomplishments were his greatest pride and his favorite moments were cheering them on from the auditorium, ballpark, or sidelines. Ben was not only a pillar of strength and light to his children, but to all who knew him. He will be remembered for his kind and gentle heart, humorous stories, and paving the way as the oldest brother in a clan of five. Whether sitting around a fire, exploring a trail with Luna, watching a Phillies game, or listening to the Grateful Dead and other eclectic music, Ben had a way of making everyone feel welcome. Ben attended St. Dorothy's in Drexel Hill and Cardinal O'Hara High School in Springfield, where he made lifelong friends and Delco brothers and played bass guitar in a band that fed his grunge soul. Professionally, Ben earned his degree and was a highly respected nurse currently at Azura Vascular Center. He was renowned for his ability to anticipate needs before they arose and brought comfort and confidence to every patient he served with his strong competency, and empathy. Ben received multiple awards for excellence in nursing and was spoken highly of by countless patients and medical professionals at both Azura and Devita Kidney Care Center. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Ben served his country with honor and discipline, receiving the Airforce Accommodation Medal among several other awards. His time in the service including two tours in Iraq shaped his deep sense of strength and resilience, laying the foundation for him to overcome and champion challenges he faced later in life. Ben Bigelow's life was a song worth singing, a story worth telling, and a love worth remembering. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Family will greet friends and relatives on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, from 5:00pm - 7:30pm at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home located at 5980 Chichester Avenue, Aston, PA 19014.
