Obituary

Carlo Capozzoli, 87, of Upper Chichester passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Born and raised in South Philadelphia, he was a graduate of Roman Catholic High School.

Following graduation, Carlo honorably served our nation in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1963. Afterwards, he went to work for the United States Postal Service for 38 years, rising in the ranks to General Foreman. During the earlier years, he would work the night shift at 30th Street Station so that he could be home to take care of the kids.

Carlo and his wife, Margaret "Peg", grew up together in their Olney neighborhood and were married for 68 years. They moved their family of four to the Holmesburg section of Northeast Philadelphia in 1965, where they lived for 42 years, creating long-lasting friendships and many happy memories.

Carlo was an avid racquetball player, still playing regularly into his early 80's. He took great pride in defeating opponents much younger than him, he would say by "outsmarting" them. Everyone in the club wanted to play him and he would never turn down a challenge. Carlo was a lifelong "typical" Philly sports fan. He was passionate about the Eagles, the Phillies, and the 76ers, especially the Wilt Chamberlin era, and the Big Five, cheering them on when they did well and booing them when they didn't. He also was a history buff, soaking up books on tape and TV shows, specifically of World War II and loved to share his facts with anyone who would listen. Above all, he cherished spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. He would try to attend every event, or if he couldn't go, he'd want to know what happened.

Carlo was a faithful parishioner of St. John Fisher Catholic Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Carlo "Harry" Capozzoli and Viola (Pagani) Capozzoli, his beloved son: Michael Capozzoli (1990) and two siblings: John Capozzoli and Amelia Coppolino.

Survivors: His beloved wife: Margaret C. (Groome) Capozzoli, children: Matthew J. Capozzoli (Donna), Mark Capozzoli, and Carla Drake (Sei), grandchildren: Matthew, Christian, Casey, Mia, Jacqueline, James, Andrew, Aidan, Tynan, Michael, and great-grandchildren: Eloise, Eamon, Kamila, Leo, Esme, Brandon, Kayleigh, Abby and Ally.
