IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carolyn Ann
(Cabalek) Yontz
June 5, 1939 – February 21, 2025
Surrounded by her loving family, Carolyn Ann (Cabalek) Yontz entered eternal rest on Feb. 21, 2025 at the age of 85, in Glen Mills, PA. She faced health challenges through much of her life, many from ALS in recent years. Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was a cherished role model to her children and grandchildren, leaving a legacy of faith, love, kindness, and humor. Her presence will be deeply missed by her family and all who were privileged to know her. Born in Tuscola, IL, on June 5, 1939, Carolyn was the fourth child of Anthony and Mary (Patrick) Cabalek. She cherished the memories of growing up on a rural family farm, which was the source of many of her interesting stories. Carolyn attended a one-room schoolhouse through third grade and later graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Springfield. She met the love of her life, Bill, while working at the Student Union office at the University of Illinois. They married on November 24, 1962 at Holy Cross Church in Champaign and in ensuing years lived in Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Virginia and Pennsylvania. Carolyn's life revolved around being a devoted wife and mother to their five daughters. She practiced her Catholic faith in all aspects of her life. She also found great joy in cooking and sewing for the family, playing piano, singing in church choirs, leading 4-H clubs, and helping with the family sheep farm. Carolyn was known for her incredible attention to detail. She used this gift in planning an annual family vacation that would bring all of the daughters' families together. Carolyn loved the winters she spent with her Husband Bill, in Naples, FL, and Hilton Head, SC, where they found joy in their shared passion for birdwatching and bird photography. Carolyn enjoyed our National Parks and travels abroad, especially her extended stays in the Holy Land where she advocated for Christians. She was honored to be a founding benefactor of the Institute of Catholic Culture. Carolyn is preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Rund and Judith Barracks. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, William Lee Yontz, their five daughters and husbands, Carlotta Bukowski (Mark), Michelle Sandberg (Brett), Melissa Waters (Jeff), Heidi Kelly (Terry), Allison Skunda (Kevin), her grandchildren Zachary (Valentina), Bradley (Nicole), Anna (Hannah), Madeline, Jack, John (Vivianne), Julia, David, Renee, Joseph, and her great-grandchildren, Mila and Wesley. Additionally, her sister Martha Temple (Tom) and many extended family members whom she loved and enjoyed.
