Cesare Fida, age 88, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, surrounded by his family at his home in Folsom, PA. Cesare was born in Polistena, Italy, and was raised at the nearby family farm. In 1958, Cesare immigrated to the United States where he would begin a career in tailoring, a skill he began developing at the age of 6. After 5 years of work for B. Gross, Cesare would return to Italy. There he would marry his first wife, Pasqualina, and before moving back to the United States to establish a household and continue his career as a tailor, with Pasqualina joining him a a few months later.
Cesare purchased his own tailoring shop, originally called Lou's, he would re-name it after a few years of ownership to Cesare Fida's Custom Tailoring. For almost 40 years, Cesare served the community creating custom suits from scratch and meeting the tailoring needs of countless customers. Even after closing his tailoring shop, Cesare continued to work out of his home tailoring for close friends and family who needed his skillful assistance. In addition to being skilled tailor, Cesare was an innovator, creating his own tailoring stool to aid in his work and creating tools around the house as needed.
When Cesare was not working he was busy being the life of the party. He enjoyed gardening, making his own homemade wine, and cooking for his family. He was renowned for his pasta cici, a dish he brought with him from Italy, made with many ingredients he grew himself in his garden. Cesare's talents did not stop there. He was also an incredible musician, able to play by ear, and mastering the guitar and singing. In 1972 he was invited to appear on the Al Albert's Show to perform, in addition to touring the tristate area with his band, the Zangari Orchestra, and performing at local events such as the Wilmington, DE, St. Anthony's Feast and the Rose Tree Park Italian Festival. He also took his talents to restaurants, singing tableside at establishments like Gennaro's in Aston, PA, for several years. Cesare even recorded his own CD of his vocal and guitar performances. A proud Italian, Cesare was a member of the Sons of Italy for many years. Above all else, Cesare loved and cherished his friends and family and will be well remembered for the love and devotion he shared with each of them.
Cesare is the son of the late Vincenzo and Marina Fida, brother of the late Giuseppe Fida, Carmela Fida Anastasio, and Theresa Fida Calamara of Calabria, Italy, and step father to the late Bret Spayd.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Nancy Fida (Nee Carroll), his sons, James Fida (Joanie) and Robert Fida (Johanna), step daughter, Laura Spayd, grandchildren, Danny, Kristen, Jake, Brandon, Ryan, and Carly, and one great grandson, Jack. He is also survived by his siblings, Ugo Fida of Aston, PA, Francesco Fida of Genoa, Italy, Rinaldo Fida of Boothwyn, PA, Concetta Fida Varamo, and Gilda Napoli of Calabria, Italy.
Visitation: Saturday, July 11, 2026, 2:00pm-4:00pm at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, 5980 Chichester Ave., Aston, PA 19014. Memorial Service: Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 4:00pm at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home. Burial: Private. In Lieu of Flowers: Donations may be made in Cesare's memory to the Michael J.
