Charles "Charlie" Allen Kitchen, age 81, passed away on July 12, 2024, in Glen Mills, PA, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Charlie graduated from Olney High School and went on to earn his BA in Business Administration at Temple University. His post-academic career included a position as a marketing instructor at LaSalle University, where he would earn an teaching award for innovation. Charlie's career spanned over 40 years in the petrochemical industry. After serving as marketing director at PennWalt, an acquisition by French firm Elf Aquitaine (and later Arkema) would forever changed his professional trajectory. Thanks to his agile mind and gift for communication, he would serve as the company's Director of Government Relations until his retirement in 2009. His work led him to travel extensively, allowing him to visit and explore foreign lands as diverse as the United Kingdom, Holland, Japan, West Germany and China. In addition to his professional achievements, Charlie was a man of many personal interests and talents. Throughout his life, Charlie maintained an active and athletic lifestyle. He competed in numerous tennis tournaments for his employer, was an avid basketball and baseball player. A sprinter in his high school days, he always loved a good footrace against friends and family. He also studied karate for many years, attaining the rank of brown belt. One of his greatest joys was dancing, and he was known for his impressive skills on the dance floor. He was also a dedicated member of the MG Club and the Porsche Club, reflecting his passion for automobiles. An avid reader and powerful thinker, Charlie's intellectual curiosity was matched by his dedication to sharing knowledge with others. He loved to engage in intellectual conversation and debate, bringing to the table his deep insights on history, economics, political science and more. Charlie also served in the Army Reserves, embodying a lifelong commitment to duty, service and patriotism. A resident of Springfield, PA for 31 years, Charlie and his beloved wife would make a home in Garnet Valley's Riviera at Concorde community for 20 more, where would go on to make many dear new friends. In Spring of 2024, they would finally settle in Glen Mills, PA, where Charlie would live the rest of his life in the company of his family, whom he cherished above all else. He is the son of the late Charles G. and Catherine (Maychak) Kitchen. Survivors: His loving wife of 51 years Saundra (Bellotti) Kitchen, his two sons: Jason (Samantha) and Jarod (Ayesha), his sister: Barbara, and his two grandchildren: Eric and Jenna. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 23rd at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 430 Valleybrook Rd. Glen Mills, PA 19342. Visitation: 9:15am-10:15am Funeral Mass: at 10:30am Burial: Private.
