Charles F. McCarthy, age 78, passed away on January 30, 2017 surrounded by his family at his home in Aston. Charlie was a former resident of Eddystone, PA and Elkton, MD. He retired from the United States Army with the Military Police as a Sergeant 1st Class and served his country proudly during the Vietnam War. He was a decorated veteran who was awarded the Bronze Star and survived Tet Offensive in 1968. Charles belonged to the American Legion Post #926 in Aston and he enjoyed fishing and crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay. Mr. McCarthy was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Aston.
He was the son of the late John and Kathryn (Stewart) McCarthy, brother of the late John McCarthy, and uncle of the late Jack McCarthy.
SURVIVORS: His wife of 60 years: Judith (Illingsworth) McCarthy, 3 SONS: Donald (Kathleen), Dave (Karen), and Dan (Beth), 7 Grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Ryan, Lauren, David, Sean, Michael, and Matthew, a sister-in-law: Ruth Ann McCarthy, 2 special nephews: Michael and Timmy, and a dear nephew Ricky Osowski who was like a grandson to him.
VISITATION: Saturday from 9:15-10:30am at St. Joseph's Church 3255 Concord Rd., Aston, PA. FUNERAL MASS: Saturday at 10:30am at the Church. Burial: Private.
