IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Craig W.
Camarote
November 28, 1944 – March 12, 2018
Craig W. Camarote, 73, passed away at his home in Garnet Valley, PA, on Monday March 12, 2018. He died peacefully and his family will be forever grateful for his presence in their lives. Craig was born, raised and educated in Camden, NJ, the proud son of Charles and Doris Hoover.
Craig was a man of many talents but his true love was always Firefighting. He spent over 35 years as a volunteer firefighter and safety officer at Williamstown (NJ) Fire Company Engine No. 1 and Harmony Fire Company Engine No. 23-1 in Mullica Hill, NJ. He was also a licensed State Fire Inspector and worked in several official capacities with the State of New Jersey. Craig was at his best during the most difficult time for others. His greatest joy was helping to ensure people were safe during emergencies and he wouldn't have hesitated to put his life on the line for those who needed him.
His second love was his 2004 LeMans blue Corvette which he practically "spit shined" prior to any car show or parade. He was a regular at many car shows from Carlisle, PA, to the Jersey Shore. Craig relished the chance to participate in the coveted "Show Me Your Shoes" parade on the Atlantic City boardwalk each year, where he had the pleasure to escort Miss America candidates in their journey toward the crown. He also participated in many other parades in Media, PA, and Philadelphia that celebrated national holidays and recognized the service of military and veterans. Craig was Officer-at-Large of County Corvette Association where he enjoyed five years of friendship and camaraderie.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 24 years, Diane Camarote, his beloved daughter Tamara Camarote, his special sons Shawn, Christopher (Linda) and Mark Fisher, and his nine grandchildren (John, Ryan, Bridget, Shawn William, Hunter, Zachary, Skylar, Kara and Quinn) whom he loved very much. One of five children growing up in New Jersey, Craig will be missed dearly by his brothers Barry (Barbara) and Scott (Rita) in much the same way they cherished the memories of his brother Randy and sister Sharon who passed away previously. He is also survived by his first wife, Karan Lassman, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Craig enjoyed the Beatles, the beach, travel (especially cruises), cooking, family and his dog, Fawn. His great sense of humor and big heart will be dearly missed.
