Daniel K. Scribner, age 64, of Glen Mills, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Born in Wilmington, DE, Dan was the son of Richard M. Scribner and the late Agnes (Kassouni) Scribner, and the brother of David M. Scribner. He was a proud father of Daniel H., Kristen A., and Michael N. Scribner.
In his youth, Dan played baseball and enjoyed swimming and water skiing out on the lakes of New Hampshire. A creative soul and talented chef, Dan graduated from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY in 1985. He started his career at the Green Room at Hotel Du Pont, before moving into several corporate chef positions. He later found his true passion working in food science as a research chef, developing new products for major food manufacturers. Dan's loved ones were always happily spoiled by his home-cooked meals, inspiring his three children to take up the same enthusiasm for food.
His artistic skill went beyond cooking, whether it was drawing pictures or even building gingerbread houses around the holidays, and he made a hobby out of finding and refinishing antiques. Dan cherished many summers with family in Fenwick Island, DE, sharing his love of fishing with his kids, and watching sunsets over the bay. An avid snorkeler, he would spend full days collecting seashells from around the Caribbean to proudly display around the house. He was a dog lover and often had his beloved Cisco, a Samoyed, and later Skylar, a Bernese Mountain Dog, by his side. He was also a devoted fan of the Eagles and Phillies, and throughout his life played racquetball, tennis, and golf with friends. Dan will be remembered for his humble, deeply generous nature, his humor, and his big heart.
He is survived by his three children, Daniel (Lauren) Scribner of Wilmington, DE; Kristen Scribner (Allison Heinemann) of Paoli, PA; and Michael Scribner of Glen Mills, PA; his two grandchildren, Sophia and Ryan Scribner of Wilmington, DE; his friend and former wife, Julie H. Scribner of Glen Mills, PA; and many members of extended family. He was loved by his family and will be missed.
