Obituary

Diane Elizabeth Yocum, 86, of Aston passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Bryn Mawr Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, and raised in Yeadon, Diane graduated from Yeadon High School in 1958 where she had been active in basketball, bowling and choir. In her senior year, she interned at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and began working there immediately upon graduation as the administrative assistant to the Director of the School of Nursing. For a short time after, she worked at the Pennsylvania Railroad but eventually returned to her previous position at the School of Nursing. She left the workforce for many years to raise her family, returning to work in the medical billing field for Medaphis, and subsequently Keystone Quality Transport, until she retired in 1999.

Diane loved to travel, and particularly enjoyed her trips to Hawaii, California, Las Vegas, Key West and Massachusetts. She cherished time spent at her parent's summer home in Gandy's Beach, NJ, on annual snowbird trips to Florida visiting her cousin and at the family beach house in Ocean City, MD. In her free time, she enjoyed watching the Phillies, Flyers and Eagles, military movies, doing Find-A-Word puzzles, and listening to the music of Elvis Presley. Above all, however, she most enjoyed spending time with her family. Diane was proud of her Swedish heritage. She was a member of the Swedish Colonial Society and Swedish Museum of Philadelphia.

Diane was a kind, caring person, who always put the needs of others before her own. Her pleasant personality earned her the title of Miss Congeniality in high school and was often referred to as "Lady Di" in later years. Her beautiful smile and infectious laughter made her a joy to be around.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Frank Courtney and Esther (Hoffstead) Courtney. Additionally, she is preceded in death by two siblings: George Courtney and Glenn Courtney.

Survivors: Her beloved husband of 63 years Howard Yocum, three children: Keith Yocum (Susan), Karen Zucker (Lee), and Kraig Yocum (Staci), four grandchildren: Keith Jr., Lauren, Kraig Jr., and Eric, and two great-grandchildren: Athena and Evelyn.

Visitation: Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, 5980 Chichester Ave, Aston, Pennsylvania 19014.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, 5980 Chichester Ave, Aston, Pennsylvania 19014.
