Donald J. "Chip" Witt, age 68, passed away peacefully at Christiana Care Hospital in Wilmington. Born in Ridley Park and graduated from Ridley High School, Chip moved to Upper Chichester after marrying his soulmate and love of his life, Patty. They had a caring relationship that was based on mutual support and a deep love for one another. Chip was a simple man who enjoyed bass fishing, listening to music, cooking, and of course his beer. He loved the mountains and the Poconos, coaching his daughters softball amd basketball teams through the years, and had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his dog Chase. Chip was a kind and gentle man who loved spending time with family, friends, and especially his 3 granddaughters. His children and grandchildren were the pride of Chip's life, the legacy of his kind spirit, his passion and zest for life will live on through them. Before his retirement in 2014, Chip worked for DuPont Chambers Works for 43 years. Chip will be missed by all but never forgotten. Chip was predeceased by his parents John S. and Mary Rowan Witt and his siblings Patricia Hess, John Witt, Gerald Witt, Margaret DiBiase, Judy O'Donell, and Mary Lou Cassidy. SURVIVORS: His loving wife of 48 years Patty Urey Witt, daughters Julie Smith (Chuck) and Kelly Edwards (Scott), his cherished granddaughters Madelyn, Ava, and Raelyn, his siblings David Witt (Dorothy), Irene Cataline, and Jean Moyer (Tim), Chip was also survived by his Mother in law Margaret Urey, and many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
