Doris E. (McClure) Boyer, age 83, passed away after a courageous fight with cancer, at her home on January 25, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Doris was a beautiful spirit with an unwavering faith in God who lived life well. Doris was born and raised in Marcus Hook where she resided until her death. She was a graduate of Eddystone High School. Doris was very community focused and loved her small town. She served as past president of the Marcus Hook Fire Company Ladies' Auxiliary and was an honorary member. Doris was a crossing guard for 12 years and loved crossing her kids who affectionately called her "Aunt Doris". You could always find her on the corner with a smile (unless it was really cold) and a wave. She also served as Treasurer for the Marcus Hook Senior Center. Doris was an active member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church since 1944 and served on many committees, including the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee and Bible School. She was most humbled by being able to serve the community through the Angel food Pantry at Cokesbury UMC. It gave her so much joy to help people and to make a difference in some way. Doris was a woman of faith, possessing a true servant's heart. Her faith was an inspiration to all who knew her. Doris was born into a large and loving family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who faithfully cared for her family. Doris loved unconditionally and throughout her life maintained a sweet and humble attitude that earned the trust and hearts of many. She was an avid New York Giants fan, enjoyed playing cards (especially rummy), board games, reading, going to the casinos and spending time with her family and friends. Doris never forgot a birthday and she made this world a brighter and better place.
Predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Anna Frances McClure, she was the wife of the late Mervin "Whitey" Boyer. She was the mother of the late Chuck Leisey and Rebecca (Boyer) Croff and the sister of the late Bud, Ed and George McClure and Barbara Davis.
