Dorothy L. "Aunt Dotty" Rose Jul 05, 1931 - Jul 18, 2021
Dorothy L. "Aunt Dotty" Rose, age 90, a lifelong resident of Springfield, PA passed away on July 18, 2021. Dotty was a graduate of Springfield High School and Penn State University, where she received her undergraduate and Master’s degree in Education. She retired from Marple Newtown School District in 1990 after teaching and coaching for 32 years. Dotty taught health and physical education and enjoyed her many years coaching girls High School Basketball, Lacrosse, and Field Hockey at Marple Newtown High School.
Aunt Dotty LOVED animals, especially cats! Aunt Dotty was full of stories, and she loved to tell you every single detail. Aunt Dotty loved to line dance so much that she taught line dancing and enjoyed traveling and sharing those stories and photos. She loved to craft whether it was making a scarf, a blanket, a sweater, or a scrapbook. Dotty especially enjoyed tinkering in her garden and truly loved all flowers. Throughout the years Aunt Dotty always stepped up when others stepped out; single with no children she loved her nieces and nephews like her own and considered her great nieces and nephews as grandchildren.
She was the daughter of the late Louis B. and the late Dorothy Sue Rose, sister of the late Louis B. Rose, Jr., and aunt of the late Louis B. Rose III.

Miss Rose was my gym teacher and during my senior year I spent study hall periods working in her office. This gave me the opportunity to get to know her better. She was a very kind woman and I had fun working with her. I’m so very sorry for your loss

Miss Rose was my gym teacher and field hockey mentor way, way back. She was energetic and inspired enthusiasm in her classes. Just a great teacher and one of my favorites! May all the great memories comfort you always.

I was in the MN class of 1970 and I remember Miss Rose as a very kind person who would listen when there were problems in school or with other teachers who weren't so kind. It seems like she lived a very full life, and she'll be fondly remembered. You have my condolences.
