Earl L. Melville Jr., age 88, passed away peacefully February 27, 2021 at his home in Brookhaven, PA surrounded by his family. Earl was born in Chester, PA and graduated class of 1950 from St. James High School. Earl proudly served his country in the Korean War as part of the U.S. 8th Army 75th Battalion as a Sergeant from 1954-1956. He went on to graduate with a B.S. from LaSalle University. Earl worked for the Defense Personnel Support Center in Philadelphia, PA for 33 years. In 1984 he received an award for Value Engineering at the Pentagon from Secretary of Defense Caspar W. Weinberger. After his retirement, he worked part time at St. John Chrysostom Church in Wallingford PA. The class of 2009 dedicated their yearbook to Mr. Melville. Earl was a fan of Penn State football, Phillies baseball, and Big 5 basketball. He enjoyed vacations at the Jersey Shore. Most of all, he loved spending time following the sports and activities of his children and grandchildren. Earl had a wonderful smile and great sense of humor. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, a great father, and a loyal friend.

Earl was the son of the late Earl and Gertrude (Jackson) Melville and brother of the late Beatrice Melville, John Melville, and Marion Lonnquist.

Survivors: His Devoted Wife: Sonia (Wasmundski) Melville; Children: Sonia Solomon, Stacey Burke (Michael), and Earl Melville III (Christine); Grandchildren: Jason, Jarrett, Krista, Trista, Caley, Eamonn, Tyler, Richard, and Matthew; and GreatGrandchildren: Chloe and Paxton

Visitation: Friday, March 5, 2021 from 10:00–10:45 am at St. John Chrysostom Church, 617 S. Providence Road, Wallingford. Funeral Mass: Friday, March 5, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. John Chrysostom Church. Burial: Private. In Lieu of Flowers: Donations may be made to St. John Chrysostom Church.
