IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edmund Joseph
Bransfield
October 4, 1940 – July 9, 2023
Edmund "Ed" Joseph Bransfield, a resident of Kennett Square, PA, age 82, passed away on July 9, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Edmund was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, and was a graduate of Roman Catholic High School. He served his nation proudly in the United States Army, attaining the rank of SP4 before being honorably discharged. Ed's true passion was his family. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, and father. Most of all, his role as Pop Pop was his greatest devotion. His eleven grandchildren were his pride and joy. He knew of every celebration, sports competition, and special moment his grandchildren had. He cherished the times all the grandchildren were together more than anything else. The grandchildren have been blessed with many words of wisdom and life lessons from their Pop Pop that will be passed down for years to come. At the time of his passing, Ed was the proud owner of Wm. J. Donovan sheet metal company. He started there in 1959 and became president in 1995. Ed sat on both the Industry Fund Board of Trustees and the SMCA Board of Directors, serving as the SMCA President from 1994 through 1996. He was also a member of some of SMCA's most important committees, including the Labor and Legislative Committees, the Local Joint Adjustment Board, and the Sheet Metal Industry Advancement Committee, and Safety Committee. He also served as the Management Co-Chair of the Local 19 Benefit Funds Trustees. He received the Mel Wind Award in 1998 in recognition of his distinguished service to the industry. He was also named an Honorary Lifetime Member of the SMCA Board of Directors. Ed was active beyond SMCA as well. He sat on the Board of Directors of SMACNA of Pennsylvania. He was SMCA's representative to the SMACNA Council of Chapter Representatives. In 2006, Ed was awarded as SMACNA's Legislative Contractor of the Year - this is the highest legislative honor a contractor can earn within SMACNA and reflects a career of industry activism and support. He was also a member of SMAC PAC's Congressional Insiders Club, the legislative arm of SMACNA. In 2004, Ed was inducted into the SMACNA College of Fellows - membership in the College of Fellows is reserved for top industry professionals who have made significant contributions to advancing the sheet metal industry (if there is a sheet metal contractor hall of fame, this is it). Edmund was the son of the late Vincent J. Bransfield Sr. and Jane (Granahan) Bransfield. Survivors: His Beloved Wife: Patricia A. Bransfield (nee Moran), his children: Kathleen M. Megill (Scott), Daniel P. Bransfield (Allyson), and Edmund N. Bransfield (Kelly). Siblings: Vincent J. Bransfield, Jr., the Most Reverend Michael J. Bransfield, and Eugene J.
