Obituary

Edward Carson McGlennen "Ed," age 86, passed away on July 7, 2026. Ed grew up in Norwood, PA, where he graduated from Interboro High School before earning his degree from Pennsylvania Military College, now Widener University. As a young man, he sang in his church choir and proudly served for three years in the Army National Guard, stationed at Fort Dix, NJ. In 1985, he moved to Glen Mills, PA, where he raised his family. In 2001, he relocated to Ocean Pines, MD, where his home overlooked the 15th fairway of the golf course, before returning to Glen Mills in 2019.

Ed dedicated his career to sales, spending many years as a Sales Director with AT&T. While working there, he also worked in sales for Dougherty's TV & Video in Norwood. Following his career with AT&T, he joined Conectiv, where he worked until his retirement in 2002. A hardworking and dependable man, Ed took great pride in his work and the relationships he built throughout his career.

Ed was a former volunteer with the Norwood Fire Company and a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in West Chester, PA. He enjoyed golfing and especially loved living on the 15th fairway at Ocean Pines, where he could watch the golfers from his backyard. He was also an avid car enthusiast who appreciated classic automobiles and often shared stories about his first car, a Ford with a manual transmission. A devoted Philadelphia sports fan, Ed faithfully cheered on the Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers. He also loved spending time in Avalon, NJ, where countless family memories were made. Above all, Ed cherished every moment spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was the son of the late George and Mabel (née Carson) McGlennen and the beloved husband of the late Mary Jane "MJ" (née Reagan) McGlennen.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Jeanine Soltez (Chris), Kristen Layne (John), and Lauren McGlennen; his grandchildren, Jordan Isabel Benner (Tristan), Travis Carson Layne, and Reagan Joan Layne; and one great-grandchild on the way.
