Obituary

Edward S. "Poppy" Samara, age 79, died suddenly on February 13, 2015. Ed was born on August 9, 1935 and raised in Chester, PA. He graduated from St. James High School in 1953 and honorably served in Europe in the US Army. He has resided in Brookhaven since 1974.

Ed was employed by Brighton Chemical in Trainer and retired from Exxon Mobil, Paulsboro, NJ, in 2000 after many years of service. He was longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Charity Church. Most importantly Ed was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family more than anything.

He was the son of the late Michael and Helen (Milovich) Samara and brother of the late Dorothy Pietrzyk and John Samara.

SURVIVORS: His Childhood sweetheart and loving wife of 55 years : Shirley (Leyman) Samara; children: Mark Samara (Rochelle) and Lisa Samara (Edward Gibbons); grandchildren: who he adored, Catherine, Angelina, Patrick (Val), Samantha and Thomas; sisters in law: Carolyn Sabatelli and Anne Drabouski (John); cousins, nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: Friday from 8:30-9:45am at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home Ltd., 5980 Chichester Ave, Aston, PA. Funeral Mass: Friday at 10:30 am at Our Lady Of Charity Church, 231 Upland Road, Brookhaven. BURIAL: Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield. In lieu of flowers: donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org, OR mass cards.
