Obituary

Eileen Mahan (née McGinn), age 86, passed away on May 28, 2026 with her loving family by her side. Eileen was a resident of Maris Grove retirement community in Glen Mills. She was born and raised in Havertown and was a graduate of Haverford High School. She went on to earn her RN at Misericordia School of Nursing. Eileen's nursing career spanned decades and includes her being the first hospice nurse in Delaware County. Her final 15 years in nursing were served as Delaware County Memorial Hospital's Director of Employee Health. She was very proud of becoming a Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) as well as being named Employee of the Year in 1990. She enjoyed her coworkers at DCMH and was loved by all that worked with her. After retirement she spent a few years in Brigantine, NJ where she loved spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Brigantine Elks where she volunteered many hours and had many friends. Her nursing continued when she trained to be a volunteer Emergency Management Coordinator for the Atlantic County Medical Reserve Corp in NJ. After Brigantine she resided in North Fort Myers, FL in the Heron's Glen Community for 10 years. She loved having visitors, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known as Mom, Mom Mom, Mom-E and Aunt Eileen to so many, all roles she cherished. Her family was everything to her and not a day went by that she didn't speak to multiple family members. She was so proud to be the oldest of 7 kids and remained close to them all.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years, Stephen G. Mahan, Sr. whom she loved her life with. Together they were so proud to be a blended family with 8 kids. They traveled all over the world and met friends everywhere they went.

Eileen was also predeceased by sisters Ann Thomas, Kass Haverly, and her Irish twin Sheila Haggerty; also her step-daughter, Shelley Shiels.

Eileen is survived by her children Karen Kaufman, Krista Mahan, Robert Kleinhans, and Kathryn Collins (Brian) her sisters, Mary Zuccarini and Nora Keller; and her brother, William McGinn, Jr. (Pat).
