IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth Ann
Bradley
July 25, 1943 – September 27, 2024
Elizabeth Ann Bradley ("Betty Ann") was born on July 25, 1943 in Philadelphia, PA. She was the first of 8 children born to Michael and Elizbeth Dotsey (nee Rooney). Betty Ann was raised in Bala Cynwyd, PA along with her 3 brothers and 4 sisters: Michael Dotsey (Ann), Mary Dotsey (William Raddi), Kathy Maul (Arthur) and Joan Laughinghouse (Steve); she was pre-deceased by her siblings: William Dotsey (Maureen), James Dotsey (Peggy); Lynne Dotsey. Betty Ann attended Archbishop Prendergast High School, received her BA from West Chester University, and an MA in English from Villanova University. She taught junior high and high school English in Penns Grove, New Jersey. Betty Ann met her husband, Joseph F. Bradley ("Joe") in Ocean City, New Jersey at a gathering on the bay in the summer of 1965. They married a year later and remained happily married for 58 years. Betty Ann was a loving mother to two daughters Meghan Bradley (John Costello and daughter Samantha) and Dana Bradley (Richard Petrosky and son Alexander). While her children were in grade school, she spent most of her time volunteering at St. Thomas the Apostle School as a substitute teacher, librarian, facilitator of Art Goes to School, and coach of the forensics team. She was also the co-chair of the Caring and Sharing Ministry with her husband Joe for 27 years, where she selflessly dedicated her time to feeding and clothing the less fortunate in the community (e.g. turkey drives, sandwich Saturdays, casserole Sundays, and the Christmas Giving Tree - where the ministry provided over 400 families a year with Christmas gifts). During these years, she also shared her love with Edwin Vazquez (Madeline and son, Brody) to whom she became a surrogate mother. In addition to volunteering at her church, Betty Ann pursued her love of art as a volunteer docent at the Brandywine Museum of Art in Chadds Ford, PA. She loved teaching school children about Andrew Wyeth's paintings and passionately prepared for each and every tour. Betty Ann loved the seashore and spent summers in Ocean City, NJ with her husband and daughters at her parent's summer home for over 30 years when her children were young. Together Betty Ann and Joe bought a beach house in Bradley Beach, NJ where she enjoyed the company of her adult children and her two beautiful grandchildren Alexander and Samantha for another 20 years. While Betty Ann and Joe resided in Thornton, PA for most of their marriage, they spent the last 5 years together at Shannondell independent living community in Audubon, PA. At Shannondell, Betty Ann was an engaged member of her community meeting up with friends for dinner, playing weekly bridge games, and learning to play the ukulele as a member of the Strummers in the Dell. Betty Ann was an amazing woman. Her additional hobbies/interests included cooking (her husband Joe would tell everyone she was a "universe-class cook"), reading, and lover of classical music, especially Mozart. Betty Ann was a woman of deep faith and turned to prayer often for guidance and solace. Her mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church 430 Valleybrook Rd, Glen Mills, PA 19342 (Chester Heights, PA) on Saturday, October 5th. Visitation: 9:15-10:15am; Mass at 10:30am with burial immediately following at St. Thomas the Apostle Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to the Schinzel-Giedion Syndrome Foundation where her daughter Dana is a Trustee. Click Here to Donate
