Ellen Ann Smith (nee Collins), age 74, a resident of Wilmington, DE, passed away on November 18, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was raised in Chester, PA, and was a graduate of Chester High School. Over the years Ellen worked many jobs, working at Wawa and as a food service employee for Brandywine School District. Above all else, Ellen cherished her role as a stay at home mom while raising and caring for her family. She was a member of Holy Child Roman Catholic Church in Wilmington, DE. Ellen was the daughter of the late Will "Bear" and Carolyn McKnight, sister of the late David McKnight, and wife of the late Thomas "Tommy" Smith, the love of her life, to whom she was married for 47 years. Ellen was also preceded in death by her loving partner of the past 5 years, Joseph Urbani. Survivors: Children: Thomas "Tommy" Smith, Jr., Brian Smith (Lisa), Steven Smith (Kristen), and Lori Lynn Lassiter (Jim); Siblings: Ginny Lowe, Edward "Butch" Collins, Michael McKnight, Carolyn "Deedee" Wade, and Joseph McKnight; Grandchildren: Melissa Burke, Andrew Moran, Genevieve "Genna" Lassiter, Tyler Smith, Nathaniel Lassiter, Madison Smith, and Beckett Smith; she was also blessed with 2 great grandchildren.
