Ernest Anthony Manerchia Jr., age 61, of West Grove, PA died January 21, 2017. Ernie was a 1973 graduate of Chichester High School and Cheyney State University in 1977 where he received a BS in Recreational Therapy. He served his country proudly in the United States Army as a sergeant.
Ernie was in Law Enforcement for 30 years; he worked for the Chester Police Department for 23 years as a Patrolman, SWAT Team, Dive Ops Coordinator, the Juvenile Division, and retired as a Crime Scene Investigator. He was a member of the FOP Lodge #19. Ernie was a proud Mason who belonged to St. Alban Masonic Lodge# 529, Knights Templar, and Westinghouse Square Club #968. Ernie was a firefighter and EMT with the Boothwyn Fire Co.
Ernie enjoyed football, watching his grandson play sports, animals, and holidays with his family. He was a football coach for the Parkside Knights in the 1990's and was Vice President of the Quarterback Club with Unionville High School in 1998.
He was the son of the late Ernest A. and Henrietta (Hannum) Manerchia, Sr.
SURVIVORS: Wife: Maryann (Golasa) Manerchia, 1 son: Kristopher Glatts (Stephani), his sister: Brenda Garrity (Tim), grandchildren: Sean and Samantha Glatts, 3 Nieces: Kylie Beresk (John), Erin Garrity, and Ryan Garrity.
Visitation: Friday from 11:00am-12:45pm at the Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home 5980 Chichester Ave., Aston. Masonic Service and Military Detail: Friday at 1:00pm at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home. Burial: Private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MS Foundation nationalmsfoundation.org and Brandywine Valley S.P.C.A.
