Gloria Carmella "Malla" (Genovese) Buri, age 91 and a longtime resident of Chester, PA passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family. Gloria was retired and had previously worked at her husband's refrigeration and air conditioning business and Home Interiors and Gifts as well other companies over the years. She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Chester, PA. Gloria's life revolved around her family and found great purpose sharing in successes, joys and challenges of those around her. In Gloria's earlier years, she enjoyed spending time and cooking with sisters Mary and Dominica "Minnie". They would use their canned South Jersey plum tomatoes bought directly from the produce farm to make delicious, from scratch, Italian meals. Occasionally, all three sisters along with big brother Anthony would have Sunday dinner at the home of their mother Genoveffa and it was common to hear all four of Genoveffa's children speaking Italian while enjoying time together with their families. Gloria loved to travel and vacation with her family and while on a Mediterranean cruise with daughters Judy and Mary Jane, was fortunate to visit her parents' birthplace of Roccalumera (near Messina), Sicily. Gloria would often visit daughter Gloria Jean in West Virginia and help make chocolate covered strawberries and pretzels for Gloria Jean's retail chocolate store-The Chocolate Florist. Gloria especially loved making the gourmet apples! Gloria also traveled with sister Mary and both would occasionally travel by train from Marcus Hook Station, to Penn Station in New York City to visit her son Harold and family in Huntington, NY. Other interests include crocheting, playing Bubble Witch and keeping current with friends and family on FACEBOOK. She was predeceased by Harold I., Sr., her beloved husband of 39 years. She was the daughter of the late Luciano and Genoveffa (Starrantino) Genovese, sister of the late Anthony P. Genovese, Giacomo (Jake) Genovese, Domenica (Sunday) "Minnie" Lenzi and Mary Kaiser. Gloria was also predeceased by daughter Mary Jane Mulder, granddaughter Paula Mulder, grandson Eric Matthew Barrett and great great-grandson Andrew S. Barrett, Jr .. Gloria is survived by daughters Gloria Jean Morgan of Fairmont, WV and Judith Ann Cassidy of Mays Landing, NJ and son, Harold I. Buri of New York City. Further survivors include 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
