Obituary

In Loving Memory of Guy Sileo

Guy Sileo, 92, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, just shy of his 93rd birthday. Surrounded by family in his final moments, he left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion that touched so many.

Born and raised in Chester, PA, Guy was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War in Italy and Germany. A graduate of Chester High School, Pennsylvania Military College, and Widener University (MBA), he built his career as a Certified Public Accountant, working for over 41 years with Philadelphia Electric Company (PECO) as Director of Taxes, while also running his own accounting practice. He continued his work well into his nineties, indeed up until the week he passed, simply because he loved what he did.

Guy and his beloved wife, Janet, married in 1961 and raised their family in Wallingford, PA. A natural showman with an on-stage presence not to be rivaled, he became known in the 1970s to his nieces and nephews as "Fong the Mysterious," amazing audiences with magic tricks well ahead of their time. That same spirit of joy and performance carried through his entire life.

In later years, once they became empty nesters, Guy and Janet moved to Maris Grove in Glen Mills, PA, where they shared many wonderful times with their wide circle of lifelong friends. True to his love of fun and showmanship, he could often be found behind the microphone — serving as MC of the Maris Grove Follies or delivering his own 10-minute stand-up comedy set.

Guy's passions included cigars, billiards, the stock market, comedy, travel, and sharing stories and laughter with family and friends. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Cornelius Church in Chadds Ford and St. John Chrysostom Church in Wallingford. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

He was the son of the late Angelo and Anna (née Perotta) Sileo, husband of 56 years to the late Janet Sileo, longtime companion to the late Wanda Talbot, and brother of the late Dominic Sileo. He is survived by his children, Guy Sileo (Denise) and Angela Murphy (Michael); his sister, Vinny Carney; grandchildren, Matthew and Marissa Sileo, and Michael Jr. and John Murphy; many nieces and nephews and friends too numerous to count.

He was one of the last of a rare breed — part of a truly great generation who witnessed and contributed to some of the most remarkable accomplishments of our time.
