On January 10, 2017, Hazel Haney of Boothwyn, PA went to be with her Lord peacefully in her sleep after a brief illness at home comforted by family members.

Hazel was born in Yancey County, NC on August 2, 1921. She was the daughter of John C. Ensor and Geneva Briggs. She moved from NC to Pennsylvania about 1940 along with her husband Joseph Haney and became a resident of Boothwyn.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband Joseph of 75 years, and is survived by her children Kenneth Haney, Shirley (Haney) O'Connor, along with grandchildren Matthew Haney, Melissa (Haney) Jordan, Shawn Haney, and step grandchildren Dennis O'Conner and Terry O'Connor. She had nine great grandchildren, six great step grandchildren, and one great, great step grandchild.

Hazel loved to garden with her husband Joe and canned garden produce. She also loved her flower garden as well as crocheting, knitting, and making preserves. She helped Joe to completely gut the little bungalow they purchased in Boothwyn and renovated it into a brick and stucco ranch type house. She enjoyed visits by her grandchildren and great grandchildren and would tell them "I love you" as they hugged her goodbye.

When her children graduated from high school she earned a Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) certificate at Chester Hospital and worked in nursing for thirty years, first at Chester and later at Sacred Heart Hospital. Without knowledge of her family she purchased a car and obtained a driver's license so she did not have to depend upon her husband or children to get back and forth to work.
