Ida T. Durning (nee Long), beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024 in Garnet Valley, PA at the age of 83. Born on March 5, 1941, in Philadelphia, PA, Ida was the cherish daughter of the late Amos and Catherine (nee. Bivenour) Long. Ida was born and raised in South Philadelphia. Her family became parishioners of St. Monica Catholic Church, and she was a proud graduate of St. Maria Goretti Catholic High School. In her youth, she worked as an usherette and cashier at both the Viking and Boyd Theaters in Center City Philadelphia. She also worked as a bookkeeper at ABC Finance Company where she met her beloved husband, Francis Durning, with whom she shared 57 wonderful years of marriage Ida and Frank moved to Delaware County where they had their cherished daughter, Charlene. Ida treasured traveling with her husband and enjoyed hosting lively family barbecues by his side. She also found joy in the simple things, like completing crossword puzzles and spending time with her beloved family. Ida dedicated over 40 years to Samson Furniture, working as a talented saleswoman and bookkeeper before her retirement. She was a devout Catholic and a faithful parishioner of St. John Fisher Catholic Church. Ida was predeceased by her loving husband Francis P. Durning (2020), as well as her siblings MaryAnne Berkley, Catherine DelCitto, Felice Marie Long, IHM, Margaret Ferry, Amos, George, James, Martin and Richard Long. She is survived by her loving Charlene; her grandchildren: James, Jr. and Jenna Lynn; her sister, Rosemarie D'Ambrosio; her brother Joseph Long; and her twin brother Charles Long Visitation: Monday December 16, 2024, from 9:15a to 10:45a at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 4225 Chichester Ave, Boothwyn, PA 19061.
