Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend who touched the lives of many. While words can never fully capture the impact he had on all who had the privilege of knowing him, we honor his memory with this tribute.

James R. Marquisette of Media, PA, formerly of Philadelphia PA, passed away on Sunday January 11, 2026, at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. He was 88 years old; he was a devoted husband of 59 years to his wife Cheryl Marquisette. He was born in Philadelphia County PA, and the son of the late James Marquisette and Alice (Appel) Marquisette.

James graduated from Milford High School, Milford DE. and later worked as a Project Manager and Draftsman at Edlon Inc. in Avondale, PA, retiring in March of 2013. Baptized at the age of 10, Jim was a long time, devoted Jehovah's Witness. He spent 78 years of his life preaching and teaching others about the bibles hope for the future under the perfect government of Jehovah God. Alongside him was his loving wife Cheryl, who shared the vigor he had for that future Kingdom arrangement. Together they raised a son who followed in the footsteps of his parents to this day.

In his downtime as a young man, he enjoyed scuba diving as a certified instructor, roller skating, and loved to go fishing throughout his life, especially deep-sea fishing, and often shared trips with his family and friends. Traveling outside of the US with his wife to attend special conventions in Finland, Germany, Rome and Paris to visit and worship among their fellow brothers and sisters in those foreign lands. He was a hard worker and a generous man who we will all miss dearly.

In addition to his wife, Cheryl, he is also survived by his son James (Jim) Howard Marquisette, married to Heidi Marquisette and their children James (Jimmy) Brian Marquisette and his wife Ashlyn (Stanley) Marquisette, Jordan Alexander Marquisette, and Elizabeth Ari Marquisette. Sister-in-law, Joan Marquisette, niece Jennifer (Marquisette) Scarborough, and great nieces Trystan (Marquisette) Gahagan and Jaqylin Marquisette. He is pre-deceased by his younger brother Thomas Marquisette.

Services will be held on Friday January 23, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3011 N. Heald St. Wilmington, DE 19802.
