Obituary

James E. McCullough, age 92, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born in Milford, DE, on December 6, 1933 (the same day prohibition was ended) to his parents Harry and Mildred (nee Owens) McCullough. At 16 years old, Jim would move with his family to Marcus Hook, PA, where he would remain until his passing. He was a graduate of Eddystone High School, Class of 1951 before attending Millersville University to major in Education with a plan to become a shop teacher.

Jim would leave school to take over the family business, McCullough's Produce, formerly Owen's Produce. For many years Jim was well known for selling eggs, chickens, and produce. He would also invest in and own rental properties in the area and two laundromats, one in Marcus Hook and the other in Linwood.

When Jim was not working, he loved to travel. The two destinations he frequented most often were Hawaii and Puerto Rico, but he really enjoyed anywhere that had a beach. As a young man he would spend hours in the water swimming, even staying out later than the lifeguards on many occasions. He particularly liked spending time at his daughter Judy's shore house in North Wildwood, NJ, as well. Jim was an avid sports fan, growing up in Milford, DE, he spent time watching the Red Sox minor league team that played in the area. However, the Phillies and Eagles were where his true loyalties lied. Over the years Jim attended numerous regular season and post season games for both teams. He also liked to dabble in art, drawing and sketching when the inspiration arose.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy McCullough, and he was the last survivor of 8 siblings.
