Jean (Barras) Birney, age 79, a longtime resident of Chester, passed away June 21, 2017. She was a graduate of Ridley High School and Goldey Beacom College in Wilmington, DE. Jean was retired from the DuPont Co. and was a longtime employee of the Rocky Run YMCA in Media, working in their Kinder Bears program. She was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan.

She was the daughter of late Louis and Warrena (Hughes) Barras.

She was predeceased by her great grandchild: Abigail and Josh.

SURVIVORS: her loving husband of 59 years: Walter R. Birney; 4 sons: Stephen (Elizabeth), Brian (Mary), Matthew (Karen), and Scott (Ann); 7 grandchildren: Jason, Shannon, James, Amy, Matthew, Ariana, and Galen; and 7 great grandchildren: Baby "B", Sophia, Marcus, Dean, Aaron, Matthew, and Gavin.

VISITATION: Friday, June 30th, from 9:00 - 10:30 am at the Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, 5980 Chichester Ave, Aston, PA. FUNERAL SERVICE: Friday at 10:30 am at the Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home. BURIAL: Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood. In Lieu of Flowers: Donations may be made to the American Lung Association at www.lung.org.
