Obituary

Jeffrey "Jeff" Thomas, age 65, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Chester and raised in Prospect Park, PA, Jeff was a proud graduate of Interboro High School, where he played football and formed many lifelong friendships. He went on to build a long and respected career with PECO Energy, an Exelon Company, dedicating over 35 years to the Gas Department in various roles. Jeff was known not only for his technical expertise, but also for his strong work ethic, loyalty, and the camaraderie he brought to every job site. Jeff was the beloved son of the late Elmer and Elizabeth (née Swahl) Thomas. He built a wonderful life in Glenolden, PA, where he raised his two sons, Jeffrey and Shawn. In recent years, Jeff made his home in Milmont Park, PA, where he continued to grow his family and help raise his other children, Francesca and John with his devoted wife of 20 years, Gilda, whom he loved above all. Jeff found joy in the simple pleasures, cooking family meals, tackling home projects, and lending a helping hand wherever needed. He was the kind of man who could renovate a kitchen, fix a broken pipe, and still make you laugh with a perfectly timed joke. His hands-on nature often turned home improvement tasks into meaningful moments with his children, passing on not just skills, but valuable time together. Above all, Jeff's greatest pride and joy was his family. He was a dedicated husband, a supportive and loving father, a proud "Pop" to his five grandchildren, and a devoted brother. He also had a deep love for his loyal pets throughout the years, who were always by his side and brought him great comfort. Jeff was truly one of a kind, a man who could master anything he put his mind to. He was an encyclopedia of knowledge on nearly any topic, and a dependable presence to everyone who knew him. A true master-of-all-trades, Jeff's legacy is not only in what he built, but in how deeply he was loved. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Gilda (née Fida) Thomas; his children, Jeffrey Thomas (Erin), Shawn Thomas, Francesca Farkus (Bryan), and John Brittingham; his sisters, Deborah Grech (Mike) and Karen Coghlan (Joe); and his beloved grandchildren, Daisy, Maverick, Johnny, Chiara, and Bernie. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss his warmth, wisdom, and generous spirit.
