Joan Jaixen Impagliazzo, age 83, passed away, peacefully, on July 10, 2022. She was born and raised in Linwood, PA and was a graduate of Notre Dame High School. Joan raised her family and lived most of her life in Brookhaven, where she was a member of our Lady of Charity Parish, and a volunteer at the school library and the rectory. She was also a member of Holy Child Roman Catholic Church in Wilmington, DE. Joan was a devoted daughter and sister, and a fantastic wife, mother and cook. She kept her family fed well and reasonably under control until the kids went off to college, and then she decided it was time to go off to college herself. She didn't stop at a bachelor's degree with highest distinction from Penn State, but went on to a master's in education from Widener and a stint teaching at Pennwood. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends, spending time with her children and grandchildren and dashing off an indignant letter to the editor every now and then. She showed up every time one of her 12 grandchildren was born, and for their major and minor milestones, whether they were 40 miles away or 4,000, and she fed and celebrated with everyone. Nothing made her happier than piling all the sandy, sunburned grandkids onto the sofa in Sea Isle City for a family picture. She also happily welcomed the friends of her children and grandchildren and all of the associated shenanigans. She will be missed by many. Joan is the daughter of the late Stephen and Helen (Snincak) Jaixen, loving wife of the late Sam Impagliazzo, sister to the late Marie Jaixen Buscemi and Sister-in-law to the late Rosemary Buehler. Survivors: Her four children Frank Impagliazzo (Robin Fox Quinn), Anita Impagliazzo, Marie Impagliazzo Classen (Nils), David Impagliazzo (Shannon) and her grandchildren Sam, Rose and Paul Impagliazzo; Jake and Helen Hylton; Julia, Max and Jessica Classen; Joseph, Mia, Nina and Micalina Impagliazzo.
