Joan M. Thomas (NEE Williams) age 77 died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 1, 2021 at CCMC. Joan was born in Wilkes Barre, PA and graduated from GAR High School class of 1962. She moved to Delaware County and has resided in Brookhaven since 1973. Joan was committed to family, making sure that they all knew of her support to achieve their highest potential. Joan and her husband Sam had a collaborative and caring relationship. It was based on mutual support and a deep love for each other. Joan enjoyed life, family, and her many friends. She was always there to brighten the lives of others. Even though Joan had her own obstacles, her indomitable spirit encouraged her family and friends to persist in the face of many struggles. Joan was a person of faith and longtime member of St. Joseph's Church where she lived her life serving others. Joan drove and attended all her grandchildren's school and sporting events. Never missing a birthday or important life milestone. Joan will truly be missed by all, but she will never be forgotten.
Joan was the daughter of the late Warner H. and Mary O'Boyle Williams and the sister of the late Dr. Robert Williams.
SURVIVORS: Her loving husband of 55 years Samuel Thomas Jr., her beloved children Samuel Thomas III M.D. (Ofelia), Michael Thomas M.D., and Mary Barnes (Christopher), her cherished grandchildren Gabrielle, Julia, Hayden, Madeline, Samuel IV, Miles, Natalia, Charles, Ryan, and great grandson Zion. Her sister Rosemary Smith and twin sister Judy Sarnoski. Joan is also survived by many close cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
VISITATION: will be Friday evening July 9, 2021, from 6:30-8:30pm at the Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, 5980 Chichester Ave. Aston, and Saturday morning July 10, 2021 from 9:15-10:15 at St. Joseph's Church 3255 Concord Road, Aston.
FUNERAL MASS: Saturday July 10, 2021, at 10:30am at St. Joseph's Church.
ENTOMBMENT: SS Peter & Paul Cemetery Springfield.
