John F. Abbott III, 80, of Marcus Hook, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Riddle Hospital. Born in Chester, Pennsylvania he was an area resident for most of his life. John proudly served our nation in the United States Army during Vietnam and was stationed in Germany for a short while. Following his time in the military, he worked as a forklift driver for Scott paper and later served as the fleet manager for Dynamic Physical Therapy. John took great pride in his work, and it was a huge part of his life. He was a proud veteran, enjoyed cruises, vacationing, his beloved German Shepherd "Missy", and most of all time spent with his family especially his grandchildren. He is the son of the late: John F. Abbott II and Gertrude (Shields) Abbott. Additionally, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years Shirley J. Abbott (2016). Survivors: Two children: John (Rose), Colleen Feinstein (Harris), three grandchildren: Gabrielle, Alainna, and Christopher, his loving and devoted niece, Kim Abbott, and nephew Michael Gray , and his beloved dog "Buddy".
