Obituary

John E. Williams, Jr. "Butch", age 77, of Bear, DE and formerly of Bellefonte, passed away September 27, 2020 at Seasons Hospice in Newark, DE.

Butch was raised in Edgemoor Gardens and was a 1961 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. He worked for AstraZeneca for 38 years until his retirement; then went back to work for IBM where he worked for 12 years as a communications specialist. When he was younger, Butch served as a volunteer with the Brandywine Hundred firehouse and he continued going on his own "fire calls" until he was hospitalized. He also enjoyed selling flowers and Christmas trees with his brothers and nephews.

Butch loved spending time with all his grandchildren and was especially close to Jared, his first grandson. He enjoyed taking rides and would drive anywhere, from going deer spotting to trips to watch the waves at the beach. Butch was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves.

He was the son of the late John "Jack" Edward and Emma (Blackwell) Williams, Sr., brother of the late Bobby, Judy, and Bruce, brother-in-law of the late Lenny Harris, and uncle of the late Rob and Becky Williams.

Survivors: Wife: Dana Pletz-Williams; Children: Wendy Jordan (Buddy) and Christine Lutz (Bill); Grandchildren: Jared Jordan, Casey Lutz, Kevin Lutz, Sean Lutz, and Logan Jordan; Many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews who will all miss his loud laugh and big heart. He is also survived by his dogs Dewey, Stewey, and Lewey, who brought him great comfort and companionship.

According to Butch's wishes there will be no services. His daughters and grandchildren request that you honor his memory by taking a drive on a beautiful day, watch the waves a little longer, and most of all, love your family the way he loved his.

In Lieu of Flowers: donations may be made to Faithful Friends Animal Society at www.faithfulfriends.us or to your favorite pet organization.
