John Jacob Lauser, Jr., age 88, a long-time resident of Chester, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home on January 7 th . John was raised in Linwood, PA and was a graduate of Archmere Academy in DE. He worked as a Merchant Seaman for the Sun Oil Marine Department, rising to the rank of 3rd Engineer, and as a coppersmith for Sun Ship in Chester. John was a member of both St. Anthony’s Church in Chester and Our Lady of Charity in Brookhaven. In his spare time John enjoyed watching the Phillies, boating, celebrating the birthdays of his friends and family, and Sudoku puzzles. He was a Delaware County Senior Olympian and was known as Mr. Fix it, with many of his friends saying the only thing he couldn’t fix was a burnt-out light bulb.

He was son of the late John Jacob Lauser, Sr. and Margaret (Baker) Lauser. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife Mary M. (Scarpato) Lauser and his brother Donald Lauser.

SURVIVORS: his children Paul Scarpato, Sr. (Nadine), Steven Lauser (Carol), Kathleen Gallagher, Marie Muller (Alan), Michael Lauser (Colleen), Ron Lauser (Carol), and Barbara McDermond (Dan) his siblings Ed Lauser, Dave Lauser, Margaret (Peg) Sommers, and Larry Lauser as well as 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren

Visitation: Wednesday January 19 from 9am-10:15am St. Joseph’s Catholic 3255 Concord Rd, Aston, PA 19014 Service: Wednesday January 19 at 10:30am at St. Joseph’s Church Burial: Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood. In lieu of flowers: donations can be made to VITAS Healthcare
