Obituary

John Hartman "Jack" Renninger

Jack Renninger, born on February 6th, 1926 in Reading, PA to parents James and Elsie Renninger, passed away on December 31st, 2015 at the age of 89. John grew up in Shillington, PA where he graduated from Shillington High School in 1944.  He attended Lehigh University in the fall of 1944 to study engineering.  In May of 1945, John joined the United States Army and honorably served his country until October 1946 as a Second Lieutenant in the 25th Infantry Division.

John returned to Lehigh University and graduated in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering. While at Lehigh, he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.  John spent his career in the HVAC business as the owner of Renninger Trane in Wilmington, DE where he successfully grew the business from a staff of 3, two sales engineers and a secretary to a staff of 32 associates when he retired in 1993.

In addition to his working career, John was a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers. He also served on the Board of Directors for Middletown Township, Delaware County.  Some of John's interests included ballroom dancing, golfing, playing the piano and trumpet.  John had a great appreciation of music, especially big band, classical and opera.

Most of all, John enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a devoted father who influenced all of their lives in such a positive way.  John was a hard worker, loyal to his family and friends, and always strived to be fair.  We will always remember his good sense of humor and generosity.
