1937 - 2015

Joseph J. Downs, Sr., age 78, died March 16, 2015. Joseph was a resident of Wilmington, DE and previously made his home in Southwest Philadelphia. He was born and raised in Philadelphia and retired from the City of Philadelphia Fire Department. Joseph was also a member of the Philadelphia Fire Fighter's Local # 22 and was a proud veteran of the US Army.

He was the Son of the late John, Sr. and the late Margaret (Winthrop) Downs; Husband of the late Olneyetta "Shorty" (Seese) Downs; Father of the late Dana Darden and Brother of the late John Downs, Jr., Margaret Ciarelli and Robert Downs.

SURVIVORS: Children: Joseph Downs, Jr. (Carol); Denise Casey (Kevin); James Downs; Diana Bannon (Michael) and Gregory Downs (Danielle). 19 Grandchildren, 4 Great grandchildren; Sister: Vivian Federico. S ister in law: Olive "June" Ashcom. Also many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.

VISITATION: Friday from 12:00 - 2:00 pm at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home Ltd., 5980 Chichester Ave, Aston.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Friday at 2:00 pm at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home Ltd., Aston

BURIAL: Privately in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.
