Joseph Dwyer, surrounded by his loved ones, was reunited in heaven with his wife Miriam on July 23, 2022. Joe, 83 of Brookhaven, was born and raised in South West Philadelphia and attended West Catholic High School for Boys. Following high school, he entered the United States Marine Corps and proudly served for seven years. Joe was employed by Sun Shipyard for many years and also worked for Penn Shipyard, Philly Shipyard, and Tampa Shipyard. After retiring from his career with the shipyards, he started his second career of 17 years working for Giant Food Market. He officially retired June, 2022. Joe was a devoted and loving Pop Pop to Kaitlyn and Brian. He could always be found on the sidelines of their baseball fields, softball fields, and track meets. However, his favorite title of all time was Pop, given to him by his favorite girl, his great granddaughter McKenzie. Joe is predeceased by his wife Miriam, parents Joseph and Rita Dwyer, and sister Lynn Murphy. Joe is survived by his son Joe and daughter Kim (Larry) Haines; his grandchildren Kaitlyn (Daniel) McKinney and Brian Haines and great granddaughter McKenzie. He is also survived by his sisters Peggy Marano, Kay Loomis, and Gerry Durso, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who are family.
