March 16, 1950 – June 27, 2025
Joseph Patrick Long, 75, of Aston passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, June 27, 2025, at AccentCare Inpatient Hospice Center at Christiana Hospital. Born in Chester, Pennsylvania he was a 1968 graduate of St. James Catholic High School.
Following his formal education Joseph honorably served our nation in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was stationed in Berlin, Germany for an extended period. Upon his return home he reconnected with Scott Paper company and built a career as a machine operator for over forty years.
Joseph was an avid fisherman, a commendable dance partner, and an ardent Philadelphia Sports fan. He loved the challenge of a good crossword puzzle in the morning, kept a close eye out for his neighbors, and always enjoyed drumming along to the music of one of his favorite bands. Above all he cherished the time spent with his beloved family.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Leonard Long and Eileen (Mangan) Long and four siblings: Leonard Long, Catherine Lee, Elizabeth "Betty Ann" Kirschling, and Eileen Boden.
Survivors: his beloved wife of 56 years: Diane M. (Bucella) Long, two children: Joseph "Joe" Patrick Long, Jr. and Michele Madel (Mark), grandchildren: April Madel (Dylan Smith), Aubrey and Bryce Long, and great-granddaughter: Autumn, and three siblings: Tim Long (Cathey), Mary Patricia "Patty" Lee, and Rita Long. Additionally he is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, 5980 Chichester Ave, Aston, Pennsylvania, 19014.
Funeral Service: Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, 5980 Chichester Ave, Aston, Pennsylvania, 19014.
Interment: Will be private and at the convenience of the family.
