Obituary

Joseph J. Montgomery, Jr., age 54, of Wallingford, PA, past Chief of Edgmont Fire Company, passed away on September 29, 2023. Joe was raised in Gradyville, PA, and was a graduate of Penncrest High School, class of 1987. While at Penncrest, Joe excelled at sports and was a varsity athlete in Football, Lacrosse, and Wrestling. During his time playing football, Joe was a part of the 1985 team that ended Ridley's 47-game winning streak. Joe was a Boy Scout of America and earned membership to the Order of the Arrow, a honor reserved for those that most exemplify the value of the Boy Scouts. He was also an avid Philadelphia sports fan and loved to root on the Eagles, Phillies, and Wings, and he was a fan of Rock and Roll and Eddie Van Halen. Above all else, Joe committed himself to the service of his community as a lifetime member of the Edgmont and Rocky Run Fire Companies. Prior to joining the Delaware County Park Police, Joe worked as a paramedic for Main Line Health EMS (formerly Riddle EMS) for 30 years and owned and operated his own business, Pro Rescue. He took great pride in his work with Pro Rescue, which allowed him to use his knowledge to educate and train individuals in CPR and First Aid Readiness. Joe was also a member of the Concord Masonic Lodge #625. Joe was the son of the late Joseph J. Montgomery, Sr., and uncle of the late Brett Olson. Survivors: His Mother: Marsha Montgomery.
