Joseph Alonso, age 96, of Somers Point, New Jersey and recently Boothwyn, Pa died Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Charles Evers.
Joseph was born in Bergondo, Spain and came to this country at the age of 2. He was raised in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Chester, Pennsylvania after being discharged from the United States Navy after World War II. He worked at Westinghouse Corporation as a lathe operator until his retirement in 1981. He was known for his wine making, and he enjoyed wood working and cooking for his friends and family.
He was the son of the late Juan Alonso and Maria C. Gomez Alonso Rodino; Stepson of Manuel Rodino. Husband of the late Janet Alonso (nee Picado). Joe was also predeceased by his son, Joseph Alonso Jr., daughter-in-law Michele Alonso, granddaughter Anita Marie Alonso and great-grandson Tyler Anthony Evers.
SURVIVORS: Daughter: Gloria Evers (Charles); Grandchildren: Joseph M. Alonso, Charles Evers IV (Nicole), and Janet A. Evers; Great-Grandchildren: Brandon, Michael, Daniel and Matthew.
