Obituary

Joseph Francis Thornton, Sr., 72 , a longtime resident of Upland, passed away on January 20, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Joseph proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a contractor at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and Visco Power Plant. Joe liked to fish, crab, hunt, and coach the Upland Girl's Softball Team, on which his daughters played. His greatest love was his family.

Joseph was the son of the late George and Naomi (Backburn) Thornton and the brother of the late Darlene Thornton Dryden.

Survivors: his children: Susan Probert, Marie Thornton, Joseph Thornton Jr. (Elaine), Dominick, Cheyenne, Dakota and Cherokee Thornton; his brother: George Thornton; 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; his former wife: Marlene Machamer Probert Thornton; nieces, nephews and cousins.

VISITATION: Friday from 1:30-3:00pm at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, 5980 Chichester Ave, Aston, PA. Eulogies: Friday at 3:00 pm at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers: Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society: www.cancer.org. Condolences: www.nolanfidale.com.
