Obituary

Lainis Louis-Jean of Philadelphia, a beloved sister, aunt, and faithful servant of God passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. Born in Jacmel, Haiti she moved to the United States in the Mid 1980's and pursued a career in education, serving as a teacher's assistant until her recent retirement in 2018.

She was a woman whose life was rooted in faith, guided by love, and filled with happiness and joy.

Lainis was a devoted Christian who stood firmly in her convictions and remained steadfast in her faith in the Lord. Her relationship with God was an important part of her life, and she carried her faith into the way she loved, served, and cared for others. She was a faithful member of the Assembly of God of Jesus Christ, where she shared in fellowship and enjoyed traveling with her church groups. These journeys were a source of happiness, fellowship, and cherished memories.

Above all, Lainis had a special love for children. She lovingly helped raise her nieces and nephews, offering them care, guidance, and affection. Her love extended beyond words; it was shown through her presence, her generosity, and the joy she brought into the lives of those around her. She had a beautiful way of embracing life with happiness and joy, leaving behind memories that her family and loved ones will treasure forever.

Lainis leaves behind her beloved siblings: Suzette Jean, Frantz Jean, Marie Michelle Renois, Yves Jean, Chrislaine Rousseau, and Christa Gourdet, along with her cherished nieces and nephews: Myrlande Jean, Francesca Jean, Christelle Jean, Dina Jean, Frantzy Jean, Emmanuella Jean, Stephanie Jean, Ishida Mardelle Desir, Samora Desir, Maika Nicolas, Ruben St. Paul, Ludmeya Renois, Jonathan Gourdet, and Chelsea Gourdet. Additionally, she is survived by her extended family, church family, and many others whose lives were touched by her love and faith.

Though her earthly journey has come to an end, the legacy of faith, love, and joy that Lainis leaves behind will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her family finds comfort in the promise of eternal life and the assurance that those who belong to the Lord will one day be reunited with Him.

Lainis will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished. May she rest in the eternal peace and loving presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

"Well done, thou good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:21 (KJV)
