IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lena Ruth
"Kitty" Perillo
September 2, 1932 – March 27, 2022
Lena "Kitty" Ruth Perillo, (Nee Sanderson), age 89, died peacefully with her family by her side at her home in Upper Chichester. Born and raised in Suttontown, NC. Kitty graduated from East Carolina University where she studied to be a teacher. Kitty moved to Virginia Beach working for the military in the Navy Accounts Disbursing Office. There she met and fell deeply in love with her husband, Frank. She resided in her beloved town of Collingdale for 55 years before moving in with her daughter Gina. Kitty grew up on a farm in North Carolina, working to help her family picking cotton, vegetables, and pecans. She loved caring for her animals especially her dog Bell and riding her ponies. She spent her summers as a child at White Lake. She was a basketball star at her high school and named most athletic female. Her talent and beauty also won her the title of Miss Piney Grove 1948. In addition, she was a "Straw Hat Dancer" and a model. She enjoyed crafting, cooking large Italian meals for her family, and especially enjoyed gardening. She was accomplished on the piano and enjoyed dancing and singing. Kitty was a loving and devoted wife to her husband Frank and dedicated her life to raising her six children. She prided herself on being involved in all they did. She was the past president of the Collingdale Home & School Association several times. She was also past President of the Collingdale Swim Team Boosters and longtime member of the Collingdale swim club. She was active in the Girl Scouts, volunteered in TOPS local high school musicals and, many other Collingdale community involvements. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and nine grandchildren. She loved the beach and summers with her family at Ocean City, NJ., and her childhood home in North Carolina. Kitty was truly a one of a kind! Her outgoing fun-loving personality made her loved by all who knew her. We will miss Mom terribly and pray with full hearts she is safely home at peace with our Dad and those she loved dearly until we meet again.
Kitty was predeceased by her parents John L. & Sallie Farmer Sanderson, her beloved husband Frank W. Perillo (2012), and her brothers Horace, Leonard (Kirby), and Herbern Sanderson.
