She worked at Chester Crozer Medical Hospital, Taylor Hospital and Riddle Memorial Hospital. Madeline was a County Correspondence for the Delaware County Daily Times in Chester Pennsylvania. She would report on neighborhood activities and special events. While working and helping her husband complete his Pharmacy Degree, she welcomed 4 children. Her and her husband were also loving foster parents to more then 25 children. They later owned and operated Highland Pharmacy in Chester Pennsylvania. Madeline's love of flowers launched a new endeavor by opening a flower shop named Petrillo's Blooming Buds Florist and boutique. Both businesses were a staple in the community as well as a family affair for many years.

Madeline was a devout Catholic and servant of God. She was a longtime member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Glen Mills, Pa. She became a Eucharistic minister, was a member of the church choir, visited the sick at local hospitals and care facilities. Madeline enjoyed spending endless time reading and working on crossword puzzles. She loved to bake bread and desserts. She will always be remembered for her chocolate cake, Rum cake (that was mostly Rum), warm baked bread and famous chicken wings. She knitted and crocheted hats, scarfs, slippers, blankets and even made barbie doll clothes for her grandchildren and those in need. She was always volunteering her time and skills to help others. She volunteered at Crozer Chester Medical Center taking blood pressures and distributing books and candy to patients, made meals for church community, giving tree for families every Christmas, and assisted her husband with the many Knight of Columbus activities.
