Margaret R. King (nee Robbins), age 72, passed away April 1, 2017, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and lived in Renovo, Pennsylvania, for 13 years before moving to Lancaster, New York,. She was a Regents scholar and1962 graduate of Lancaster Central Senior High School and attended Harper College in Binghamton. Margaret moved to Bryn Mawr in 1963 and worked for Wallace, Roberts, and Todd, a leading environmental planning, urban design, and architecture firm. She then joined Natural Lands Trust , where she became Director of Administration, retiring in 2010.
Margaret was an active member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, and she enjoyed traveling, taking ocean cruises, and attending her four grandsons' soccer matches.
Margaret's family is deeply grateful to her many friends and neighbors who loved and assisted Margaret during her two-year illness. Their outpouring of generosity, care, and concern was extraordinary.
She was the daughter of the late Emory and Amelia (Welsh) Robbins, wife of the late John King (2008), and former wife of the late Robert John Dewey.
SURVIVORS: Her daughter: Mary Lynn Needs (Robert); siblings: Mary Covage (Ronald) and Roberta Dougherty (Sanford Teller); and grandchildren: Robert, Evan, Luke, and Scott.
VISITATION: Saturday from 10-10:45 am at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 4 Westtown Rd., Thornton, PA 19373. Memorial Service: Saturday at 11:00 am at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. BURIAL: Private. Memorial donations may be made to the church at the above address, or to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
