Obituary

Marie Estelle Shaw, age 83, passed away on June 22, 2026 in Sumterville, Florida. Marie was born in Chester, PA, raised in Linwood, PA and was a 1961 graduate of Chichester High School. She entered the workforce right away, working as a secretary and administrator for various companies over the years. In 2010 she would retire from Erie Insurance in Media, PA. Throughout her life Marie enjoyed the finer things, always taking the time to be posh and well-mannered. Marie loved to entertain, often hosting wonderful holiday gatherings for her family and friends. In her free time, Marie enjoyed going to New York City to see shows as often as she could. She also enjoyed dining out, watching classic movies, and traveling. Over the years she had a few homes at the Jersey Shore, destinations like Avalon and Stone Harbor were two of her favorites.

Marie was a strongly devoted Catholic, in her travels she liked to visit and spend time at shrines. She was currently a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala, FL. Above all else, Marie loved and cherished her family. In 2018 she moved to Florida to spend more time with her grandkids. She took great pride and care in babysitting them and savored the time together with them.

Marie is the daughter of the late Harry and Estelle Spevak, sister of the late Charles Spevak, Paul Spevak, Dorothy Nastasiak, and Joanne Spevak. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, William O. Shaw.

Survivors: Her Children: Jacqueline Stachelek (Gary), Brian Shaw (Rebecca), and Jennifer Galarza (Anthony). Siblings: Catherine Spevak, Theresa Kozeniewski (Stephen), Gerard Spevak (Angela), and Paula Kerestus (Jay). She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
