IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marvin F.
Imming
September 21, 1924 – January 29, 2021
Marvin Francis Imming, age 96, passed away peacefully Friday, January 29, 2021 at Taylor Hospital. Marvin was born in Hanover, Kansas and more recently lived in Glen Mills, PA with his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Jerry Weinhardt with their children.
Marvin was a man from a very small town, he joined the Navy and defended our country during WWII and the Korean War, 1940 - 1947. Then from 1955 until 1993, he worked for The Boeing Company as a quality assurance/control rep. He worked on both commercial and military aircraft. He also worked in the missile/aerospace division including Minuteman and the Saturn 5 rocket used for the Apollo missions. His proudest moment in his career was supporting the mission to get man on the moon. He spent many years on the east coast and also in the Seattle area. No matter where he lived, he remained an active member of the Seattle Caribou Club and took many fishing trips with his club members and family.
Following his retirement, he lived in Kansas City, MO, for twenty years. He spent most of his time with close friends, including Martha Nolan and her family, who became a second family to him. He and Martha spent many years traveling through states visiting state capitals, National Parks, Presidential Homes and Libraries. Marvin remained in close contact with Martha and her family until his passing.
While in Kansas City, he was active in donating time to repairing and rebuilding old commercial airplanes and volunteering to usher at various theaters with Martha. When traveling, he loved to record all of his trips on video and share them with family, friends and anyone that had an interest. He enjoyed going out dancing with Martha and showing off his moves anywhere there was music playing.
In his final years, Marvin relocated to Glen Mills to spend time with his children. He enjoyed going for car rides in the country to enjoy countryside landscapes, homes and he continued to take photos of it all. Marvin was known for his sweet tooth and ended every day with a big bowl of ice cream with Hershey's chocolate syrup. He was happiest when spending time with family & friends, watching his videos of his trips, sharing his life stories & experiences, drinking good scotch, dancing to jazz music and keeping in touch with old friends across the country.
Marvin is predeceased by his father Frank Imming, mother Jennie (Jorgenson) Imming, and sister Marjorie Imming. Marvin is survived by his children Michael (Teri) Imming, Mark (PJ) Imming, Michelle (Jerry) Weinhardt and Maureen DeStefano.
